Andrea Facusse’s Artist Statement
I use different mediums to express myself. Each medium gives me a different sensation with the paintbrush that I later transfer onto the canvas. Using acrylics, paint markers, pens, I make different rhythmic markings on a flat, unstretched canvas.
I make these markings in repetitive motions and in doing so I get lost in thought and transition into a different worldly plane. This repetitive process becomes a meditation that feels like a ten minute ordeal but in reality four hours have passed by.
The purpose of my artwork is to connect on a subconscious level with my audience. Just like I become one with the work, I want your inner thoughts, your inner desires and your inner fears to become one with it as well.
“I paint suffering and love, I paint joy and sadness, I paint words we fail to say, feelings we fail to show, thoughts we are willing to forget. If I can submerge you into my world, then that is the type of connection I strive for in each artwork.”
