Artist Statement
Goddess of Fertility is interesting ,the perspective of ancient communities about women. What depicted in these series, sets on the differences of «Woman Concept» in the society & culture description for them & the concept that they want themselves.
Is the current concept of women is physical & sexual?
Emphasizing on removed-replaced items, is to find a way to reduce the gap between the women’s inner & outer world in today’s society.
Atena’s creative process
Censorship is an inseparable daily fact in society that I live. From public places to the most private environment. These censorship comes from culture and religion, but mostly imposed by government and it increases day after the day in magnitude and changes its appearance. In spite of dictating all kind of censorship to all kind of people, but these acts are harder and more restrictive on women and religious and sexual minorities. As a matter of fact “Forced Hijab” as a one of the most well known kind of censorship, removed women’s existence, identity, body & appearance, thoughts and their emotions totally of the society. As if “hijab” covers up all social misbehaviour and sins which their root causes are women as point out by government. They believe women are most horrible members of the society and in Islamic Republic’s perspective they have to apply censorship and ignore women in order to help the society to survive.
