S2EP86. Curating “Ready To Wear” a show that marks time, culture, experiences and emotions w/ Celine Gabrielle, Guest Curator & Artist

A s a child of the 80’s/90’s not only was Celine influenced by the bold, in-your-face neon colours, big shoulder pads and modern technology take-over, she was also greatly influenced by both her baby boomer parents and grandparents.

Her vibrant works are very inspired by pop culture, fashion, style, design and architecture across many generations as far back as the 1920’s Art Deco and flapper girls right through to the 2000’s mega stars such as Lady Gaga and the haute couture trends of today. As a self-taught artist, Celine is influenced by the well-known artists she had access to—many who are popularized in pop culture like Tamara de Lempicka, Rene Magritte, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso. Her work takes from the artist’s obsession with fashion. More specifically, fashion’s role as a form of how we tell the world who we are, or maybe who we aspire to be. In the artist’s own words, “Sometimes it speaks our culture and can connect us to a place or time in history. Sometimes it blurs the lines of all that. It always tells a story.”

02:43.70
celinegabrielleart
Okay, perfect. So today we were just inspired chatting about our upcoming exhibit that I’m going to be curating I’m so excited and it’s based around clothing and fashion and the connection between.

03:21.14
charukaarora
Yes.

03:22.59
celinegabrielleart
Like fashion and art right? which we thought is kind of a fun topic to kind of dig into a little bit more so that’s what we’re gonna do. We’re just gonna chat about fashion. So okay, let me ask you a question? do you personally have like a strong connection to.

03:42.54
charukaarora
Yes, yes. Yes, yes, yes, okay.

03:57.83
celinegabrielleart
A piece of clothing or like a memory when you were wearing something or something meaningful that somebody in your family wore and like does that connect with you.

04:34.62
charukaarora
Ah, hundred percent I’ll tell you funny fact. So I am third born. Okay, and these are very cultural norms in India especially so if you’re a third born or if you have a huge family and it’s not an only born like even if you have a huge family. So I was like I had a I have an elder sister then I have a brother and then that’s me so me and my brother of the same age and I while we grew up I have even today a lot I love pre own clothess I love wearing my sister’s clothess even today like whenever I go to a house I’m like open up a waterau. What. What do you have for me today I have grown up wearing like I would nag to my mom like she would give me hands down clothes of my brother sometimes and because people of the same age and I would cry so much but then you know even I have memories where my sister and I had a huge gap like 11 years and I would you know so. Into a cupboard and you know try to pick up something and she’d be like don’t touch that like I think for me I love even like even my sister sometimes asked me like you know why do you love so much like you know, taking these clothes and I like I just I just feel so safe and warm even today I wear a lot of my mom’s clothes so much. Even this time.

06:07.55
celinegabrielleart
Yes.

06:36.83
celinegabrielleart
1 leave now.

07:01.56
charukaarora
You know not have been clothes like I never used to wear jewelry at all after my mom I started pairing jewelry which is you know which is somebody has something to do with her. Her idea her thought or something and just makes me think of her so much her when I see her covered the way she dresses.

07:04.53
celinegabrielleart
Yeah.

07:40.16
charukaarora
You know people really think of her today and when we think of her. It’s just how well and how passionately she dressed with fashion.

07:33.33
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, and that’s I think that so people always ask me like why fashion. Why do you? Why do you paint fashion and I do don’t get me wrong I Love color I Love texture I Love Pattern shapes shiny things. Do you know what? I mean I Love all the superficial.

08:28.40
charukaarora
Yeah, yeah.

08:12.67
celinegabrielleart
Things that draw us to clothing to fashion to jewelry but more interesting to me than the superficial stuff which is basically what you see when we go out or when you look at one of my paintings. You know you’re looking at at the superficial but there’s a deeper underside.

08:54.16
charukaarora
Yeah.

09:07.80
charukaarora
Yeah.

08:49.49
celinegabrielleart
A lot to fashion and like you were just talking about your mom and how people see her and remember her in a certain way and then that’s the same like one of my biggest fashion influences was my grandmother her name was her name was britty which is not a common name which is funny because.

09:17.82
charukaarora
Now.

09:30.12
charukaarora
Um, oh oh Billy yes, and yes.

09:28.70
celinegabrielleart
Talking about your most recent podcast episode with brittie m right? Yeah, so anyway that was funny connection but long story short is you know it was just um, it was just such a big part of who she was and I love that and I love like. How fashion is so integral integral in integral. What’s the word. Okay, anyway, it’s such a big part of our life like it could be a second thought for some people they just throw on whatever Jean’s in a t-shirt every day. But other people it’s.

10:29.62
charukaarora
Yeah, integral inteque. Yes you about it right in the first place. Only.

10:43.33
celinegabrielleart
Really like presenting who you are like do you want to look professional. Do you want to look playful. Do you want to like for weddings and funerals like there’s so many um codes almost and norms about fashion and then more recently like if you think back to. Ah, couple years ago in the states with the red maga hat you know the the Trump you knew somebody was making a statement when they’re wearing that hat right? So fast and can trigger emotions and maybe discussion debate and I just.

11:43.90
charukaarora
Yeah. Yes.

11:54.85
celinegabrielleart
I Love how when that is integrated in to to art and so just one second about my art so I always thought that I knew I love fashion growing up and it was like I have my own personal stories of being bullied for things that I wore and.

12:20.84
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yet.

12:35.70
celinegabrielleart
Wanting things that I couldn’t have and because I wanted to fit in and you know what I mean like there’s so much that won as we’re growing up I think a lot with fashion. But um I recently was at but I thought I liked like modern art and pop art and that kind of stuff which I which I do.

12:58.60
charukaarora
Yeah, we all have that.

13:09.73
celinegabrielleart
Um, but I spent a lot of time when I was younger going to art galleries and I I grew up in Ottawa Ontario canada which has the national gallery for for our country so we had really like good variety of art in there and I would like.

13:32.98
charukaarora
Yeah.

13:42.67
celinegabrielleart
Whiz through sort of the renaissance art I wouldn’t pay that much attention. But just recently I was back in Montreal actually so I was at their gallery and same thing they have this beautiful collection and I stopped for a minute and I realized like holy I didn’t I didn’t.

14:09.42
charukaarora
You did.

14:18.15
celinegabrielleart
Think that I was so connected to that art. But when you look at that artwork. There was such an emphasis on the clothes like when you look at paintings of Christ and his apostles. It’s like all this drinking and texture and fabric and then.

14:51.94
charukaarora
2 yes dres. Yes, yes.

14:54.97
celinegabrielleart
Moving on to like royalty and you see like the detail in the lace and the the Jewels and and it was people were commissioning these portraits to say something about who they were or what was going on and the fashion. The clothing was such a big part of it. So.

15:47.44
charukaarora
Yes.

15:32.71
celinegabrielleart
I Realized that oh my God like that combination of clothing and fashion and art was there like in a different way that I didn’t really connect before.

16:04.48
charukaarora
So Yes I Love that? Yes, you know you’ve given me something. Also so I don’t know if you know that I’m sure you do so but I studied fashion I I was a fashion Designer. No. Oh My God So yeah, ah, why don’t know so good news for you I So Basically I I grew up like I Always so the thing was I said I said this several times on the podcast like you know I Always I I was always a creative but I never knew how to fit in.

16:25.25
celinegabrielleart
How did I not know that. And being is in.

17:22.68
charukaarora
My mom was a big time fashion I don’t think I’ve seen someone as enthusiastic of like ah like a normal person like how much we can truly truly love something and in out of sheer innoence I think I was so inspired by her seeing the clothes because I grew up like you know, thrifting clothes and going to tailors and like you know, getting things.

17:21.17
celinegabrielleart
Wow.

17:42.71
celinegabrielleart
Um, wow.

18:02.46
charukaarora
And like you know she made sure whatever she had she always made the best out of that she didn’t want like those fancy bags or stuff but she always made sure that she would do the best of what she could at that point so I was I always thought I wanted to do fashion id fashion design and at that point like you said I I thought like you know, even with. Art or like fashion I was never too inclined towards indian you know indian aesthetic um saaries and salva suits which are you know are attired in traditional ties but a lot of women wear and I love them today. But at that point I just I never did behold I always wanted to be like no.

18:36.17
celinegabrielleart
Yes.

19:20.68
charukaarora
More you know more westernized because you feel like oh that’s the culture. That’s more popular or whatever that is and while I was navigating my world through fashion and I realized like as much as I like I always thought I would be like being a fashion Designer is it like that’s what I wanted to do so even another.

19:32.19
celinegabrielleart
Um, well.

19:57.38
charukaarora
History to like another doctor connected my father never agreed and they thought like it’s not even as a creative career fashion never see safe so he was like you know, do something better. So I decided Okay maybe I wanted to do literature So I studied history. So while even studying history I always.

20:11.33
celinegabrielleart
I’m fire.

20:36.28
charukaarora
I Can’t read I have I have a huge like I have a hard time um reading and I have a diseipity and reading. But so I Love picture Books. So What I would do is um we would have big test textbooks like those thesis books and stuff so with anything I would just go on the internet and I would start. You know, studying those eras and I would look how like people would dress like and then when I started doing fashion I never thought that this would help me but it did because I had like I would associate this century from this style and this war with this thing then when I move from fashion to art.

20:55.83
celinegabrielleart
Um, what’s.

21:50.54
charukaarora
Last in the world where my work is today I swear on god I never thought I would reach this point I would be like oh I I don’t do traditional arts like traditional art as an like you know indian signature art and today my work is so much so much inspired by Indian Textiles Indian Fashion Indian emroideries

22:07.21
celinegabrielleart
Yeah.

22:29.64
charukaarora
Like it feels like no part of what I have done so far has not had that influence and I even see that for anyone else like even if you’re drawing the pro trade portrait how do a cat like we remember people like by their character and that character also is a big part of how they dress up. Like not the like are you I if I have to picture Celine like you know the quote let me just describe it to anyone who’s listening this episode. Okay and just close your eyes if while I’m saying this so right in front of my screen I have typical saline now if you if you know Celine let me just. Even improvise this for you sharp short hair bright, wonderfully sharp coat a blue collared blouse inside. That’s peeping through a coat and she has a beautiful flower ring on a hand wonderful starts red lipstick. And a big white smile that is exactly how I envision you every time I think of you and your personality your clothing is such a big part of it even though when we don’t realize I think we consume fashion and culture so much more than we actually think of.

24:40.10
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, well, it’s funny. So Thank you? That was so cute. The little description but it’s funny because that’s another thing that we you know we should touch on too is like some people. So for me I do like as we’ve discussed the color and the the boldness and. I Also when I was in my early 20 s I’m like I’m going to be a fashion designer and I would make my own clothes and I would spend hours at the fabric store. You know, but you might like it could be a very muted understated something simple.

25:44.32
charukaarora
Um, moment.

25:51.87
celinegabrielleart
But you still remember like if somebody even wore a gray sweatsuit all the time but you remember like that’s your that’s their favorite thing so you picture them in that thing like it doesn’t That’s the thing about fashion is it doesn’t always have to be this over the top quote unquote Wild colorful crazy. Um.

26:18.92
charukaarora
Yeah.

26:30.70
charukaarora
Um, yeah.

26:30.95
celinegabrielleart
Memorable or remarkable thing to be memorable. You know what? I mean sometimes simple things can also be very memorable right? And so that’s again, the cool thing about it.

26:55.36
charukaarora
Like.

27:11.48
charukaarora
Absolutely I think like even with the time it is um, like you know I Love the Victorian Era I Just absolutely love and I love those like I am a big notead when it comes to era movies and like you I would I love them and I also love them because like how um.

27:16.37
celinegabrielleart
Um, yeah.

27:50.82
charukaarora
Like they give you a recall of a time that either I Want to go back in the future past or take me in the future like I know but I’m not a person who likes to live in the present for some people but like you know in these if these era movies like vi told you and know like you know I was I was watching this movie.

27:49.21
celinegabrielleart
Um, yeah.

28:22.82
charukaarora
Next show called the alienianist or like the bridge turn if you’ve seen that’s become widely popular right now. They also had Indian um and influence they had Indian characters introduced in the show and that’s you know that caused a big spark conversation because the way they dress like how they indicate a you know. Integrated the Sari into like a um, a gown and like you know and that became a cultural point of such a big like ah ah a a team like and I think you know it’s like time traveling for me I think.

28:47.97
celinegabrielleart
Um, yeah.

29:10.97
celinegabrielleart
Yes, and ah, that’s such a. That’s another valid point That’s another reason that’s fashion is so cool because it can take you to a time or place right? like even those are um movies that in the past. But even like if you look at.

29:35.14
charukaarora
That’s how I love it.

29:49.57
celinegabrielleart
Movies said in the future imagining like what is fashioning going be like what is it going to look like in the future like we’re always things change and evolved and then now for me, it’s hilarious because it’s cyclical and I have teenagers and so my poor daughter in particular every time she buys something I’m like I had that I wore that I had you don’t I mean like.

30:09.38
charukaarora
Yeah, yeah.

30:47.78
charukaarora
That new.

30:28.61
celinegabrielleart
All coming back around and my mom did the same thing to me and we just keep reinventing and recycling and yeah I just I Just love how it’s such um, it’s just such a part of our lives whether we like it or not, you know you have to? well.

31:15.54
charukaarora
Yeah.

31:05.50
celinegabrielleart
I Think in some places you’d get arrested if you didn’t wear clothes right? So you have to wear clothes whether you want to or not and maybe they’re gonna make a statement and maybe they’re gonna blend in or maybe they’re goingnna remind you of someone or I don’t know what your reason for you? Not you? but the general you.

31:54.76
charukaarora
Yeah.

31:41.27
celinegabrielleart
What our reason is for why we make the choices we do but that the stories is is so interesting.

32:10.60
charukaarora
Tell me something when you have a very personal style today and um I think fashion is like I say artist also a huge part of our extension of a personality fashion I feel is the same.

32:18.53
celinegabrielleart
Yeah.

32:41.62
charukaarora
Can Of course you take you as an example I So associate with the way you dress with the versus the person you are the compliments of all each other and it feels very like connected but um, like you know when while I was growing up I didn’t know a lot about who I am I still I think for me still fashion.

32:35.95
celinegabrielleart
Right.

33:19.36
charukaarora
Um, you know my mom well while I was the designer I like it working in the fashion. My mom would ask me like um, what’s in trend today like you know this is trendy and like you know something like that and I would never get it I would just never get it I was like oh nothing is trendy. So I feel like I am more a person of I don’t I don’t think I have a very specific.

33:06.30
celinegabrielleart
Um, but you.

33:58.80
charukaarora
Style when it comes to that I think but while you were growing up. You have a very spectacular signified style. Did you always have it. How did you evolve were you too shy like I really want to know that now.

34:01.79
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, no, you know what? I think my parents as well as my so I mentioned my grandmother my parents also my mother and my father have their own um their own personal style and always have and so I think having that as a role model. Well and then the other.

34:51.32
charukaarora
Move out.

34:41.21
celinegabrielleart
Thing is I was very I still am I was very into pop culture I was very into you know Mtv and all of that over the top craziness and my parents let me that’s the thing you know when you’re a kid some some parents like to have a bit more control and pick out the outfits and.

35:20.86
charukaarora
Love yeah.

35:16.89
celinegabrielleart
But my parents weren’t like that like I remember a really big um strong memory for me was every August going back to school shopping for like my first day outfit and I would like sketch in and ride and plan it and think what I wanted and on the flip side though. So it’s it’s a weird thing because.

35:55.86
charukaarora
Wow.

35:56.47
celinegabrielleart
I was always able to wear what I wanted to dress how I wanted but there were repercussions in that because I didn’t blend in like when I was growing up. It was eighty s and 90 s most of the girls in my um school with me their parents I think had most of the control and they would put them in.

36:50.20
charukaarora
Um, yeah.

36:34.21
celinegabrielleart
Very like floral dainty pretty kind of outfits and I was inspired by like Madonna cindy Lo Jackson if you could picture you know it was like.

37:15.84
charukaarora
Ah, good.

37:07.29
celinegabrielleart
Ah, tutoo skirt and then I loved like um I don’t know like even back then they were throwing back to like 70 s patterns and crazy patterns and prints and stuff and so I would wear what I wanted but I also got.

37:55.54
charukaarora
Yes, I’m sure.

37:37.75
celinegabrielleart
Bullied for it like I remember beinguled made fun of I did not fit in because I mean I back to your comment about what is trending like I Never I think personal style sort of. Doesn’t always follow the quote unquote Trends right? like So There’s things that are trendy and nothing nothing against that it’s trendy for a reason because typically it’s nice. It’s appealing. It’s Comfortable. It’s whatever, but the people who aren’t falling in line with that trend sometimes especially growing up.

38:32.22
charukaarora
Yes.

39:05.48
charukaarora
Um, yes, and yeah.

38:50.30
celinegabrielleart
Can be. It’s it’s hard right? It’s really hard and so but I think also because I got made fun of I I think my I think I’m stubborn and I just push back and I would wear it even more I mean like it’s your personality. My yeah, my sister.

39:30.38
charukaarora
Um, yeah, you showed them? oh.

39:26.30
celinegabrielleart
And I have I’ll have to find a photo sometime we went and we got these outfits and they were like leopard print and Zebra Print kind of head to toe outfits and I loved it and I crimped my hair and it was like big and you know you remember crimping it was crazy anyway.

40:03.56
charukaarora
Okay.

40:15.54
charukaarora
Yes, yes, yes.

40:04.71
celinegabrielleart
So we went to school. We loved this. We went to school. She got teased and I got teased for wearing his outfits. She never wore it again and I wore it all the time because I was like you can’t tell me who to beer what to wear and for her. She’s like no not.

40:32.82
charukaarora
Oh god.

40:50.50
charukaarora
Yeah.

40:39.97
celinegabrielleart
Not liking what’s happening when I you know I don’t want to be a target and so I think it’s just a personality thing too like that’s why it’s interesting to me because some people really um, don’t want to stand out and to be fair I saw. A post online the other day and it was very interesting to me because I always think of New York being like fashion capital right? I’ve been there many times. It’s not but not anymore maybe at certain times. Not anymore. There’s a lot of of you know ordinary.

41:42.58
charukaarora
This yeah. I Want to be.

41:50.77
celinegabrielleart
Dressing. But this is a woman. She’s a younger woman she lives in New York and she loves fashion and she actually blogs about it on a lot online which is why I follow her because I love her fashion but she had these white platform boots that she loved absolutely loved. But the post she was writing is that she will not wear them unless she’s like getting into an uber and getting out at the location because she feels like if she wore that on the subway like with her whole look. It’s not just the shoes full look was over the top and she feels like it would make her a target and then also.

43:07.42
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yeah, yes.

43:04.91
celinegabrielleart
So in shoes like that you can’t run fast if you need to you know what? I mean so this I I you know I feel for that too because and then and and then I was reading the comment section and so many specifically women Unfortunately um like I don’t feel comfortable wearing high heels because I feel unsafe I feel unsteady.

43:27.58
charukaarora
Yes.

43:48.26
charukaarora
Yes.

44:00.38
charukaarora
Yeah.

43:44.69
celinegabrielleart
I Don’t want to wear anything that makes me a target for robbery I don’t want to wear flashy colors because I don’t want to stand out and so that is like heartbreaking too because it can be a personal expression but you might live in a place where that’s frowned upon or where you become a target right? So that’s another thing to consent.

44:35.94
charukaarora
Um, yeah.

44:22.39
celinegabrielleart
Like you might be walking by somebody on the street wearing a gray sweatsuit who really wants to be like head to toe color but doesn’t feel comfortable for whatever reason right? So it’s yeah, it’s an interesting dilemma and in certain countries too like.

45:02.28
charukaarora
And yeah, that’s such an important find.

45:20.28
charukaarora
You know in India that’s it. That’s oh my god yes, let’s so yeah I think that’s and see for me I see fashion and culture very closely and I think that’s that’s so important what you pointed out like so in India um, like you said modesty like so.

45:01.29
celinegabrielleart
Modesty is valued and so you walked around in a broad spot. How but it go well.

45:25.21
celinegabrielleart
It’s red.

45:59.92
charukaarora
If you see traditional I think it’s again, what it does not even come from heritage and like even if you see like what sa is like a like a crop top with cup cover drap is what a Sari is so basically there’s still a lot of skinsho.

45:54.43
celinegabrielleart
Ven them.

46:05.21
celinegabrielleart
Voice.

46:28.36
charukaarora
Ah, but in India a lot of times people, judge women and the character with the amount of clothes they wear and how they dress if if it’s too loud. Are they showinging too much that means she’s intimidating that means she’s over the door. Ah, that means she um is you know she can be taken advantage of you know there’s also this. Huge controversy that keeps happening in in India which is but when it comes to something as important. Um as crucial as rap where women are targeted on how they dress and that’s why they get treatedved and like you know how such a sensitive matters something as trivial as this. Um. So much integrated into our minds like you know? Um, even I’m trying to associate this even more and I like not today with um when you get married how much that pays a look like I think um, everybody like in India getting married is a really big thing I know I’ve seen that. That’s not everywhere in the world now but in India it’s a big show that includes a lot of fashion clothing like how you dress any indian pride that you’ll ask like they have like a memory of like a vision of how they want to dress as a pride like we have this elaborate clothes this red and.

48:04.81
celinegabrielleart
Um, right? why.

49:03.22
charukaarora
It’s not the clothes Only it’s the feeling a lot of women aspired to have that some sense of accomplishment I feel that brings us ah you something something I think connection to society connection to a culture or something and you know what’s something I should I really want to share.

48:49.87
celinegabrielleart
Who has.

49:41.40
charukaarora
So in India you if you’re married the way you dress like you know the bridal where you wear and if you die married if you’re you know if you’re married and that’s when you die you are dressed in the same clue like in a bridal setup and that’s how.

49:33.70
celinegabrielleart
And any.

50:16.92
charukaarora
Also like given a funeral so like you know and the concept behind that is like um because in India like how women’s role of being a 5 and like how they die like so it signifies that that person died ah with a healthy family with with they had like.

49:59.13
celinegabrielleart
Ah, oh.

50:56.22
charukaarora
Have a huge family to look after they had a happy light like that to signify. But you you know I saw that when I saw that I was so um, it it Didt treat me and I was like you know how much little things like just as traapes and clothes and accessories or like stuff like that.

50:42.91
celinegabrielleart
Right.

51:35.72
charukaarora
But the amount of emotions and impact they bring into our lives.

51:19.25
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, absolutely and isn’t that interesting too like you know every culture I’m sure we’re we’re only representative of of 2 places but you know around the world I bet you if you start asking people.

51:55.86
charukaarora
Yeah.

51:50.29
celinegabrielleart
About the significance of clothing and how it’s treated in their culture and their society. There’s going to be all these different traditions and doing things which is just so it’s so interesting isn’t it.

52:18.44
charukaarora
Yes.

52:30.52
charukaarora
Absolutely and you know, um, it’s it’s also I feel like how much I don’t know I’m going to just say this when I was working in fashion and even before that I was I felt by doubt so I was very fashion like I was I always had. Ah, huge you know passion for like this thing for fashion clothes and everything I feel like I’ve done that down we you know down now. But um I felt when I was too expressive I felt judged like you know, um. Like you said like you know you and I felt like I wanted to do it down and I felt when I was even working in fashion I always felt questioned like I’m glad we’re having this conversation today because I felt like oh what am I I I’m just making clothes like you know. Just close. What do I have like a ah lot of a question. A lot of artists also have keep asking like you know what do I’m not changing the world I’m not like I’m I’m just great creating key loads and I would always feel any or I’m just dressing like this I would always feel very under undermined or you know. Small I’m doing something that has no value but to be in this conversation like I’m looking at that perspective I’m like what the hell was I thinking like the impact at your own tune.

54:59.90
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, yeah, the the role that clothes play and it’s funny that you say that too because you know my my style I think it’s also like in in less some significant ways than maybe a huge change. But for me I grew up in a city. And I was young and so I didn’t care and I had the support of my parents I didn’t care I wore what I wanted it was you know I was in a country where I could right? and um, anyway, so that was fine but then I moved to where I currently live now which is a very small town. It’s conserve. It’s older.

55:57.86
charukaarora
Um, yeah, um, yeah.

56:26.34
charukaarora
Yeah.

56:16.29
celinegabrielleart
And on top of that there’s dirt roads like not everywhere. Don’t get me wrong. We have people people’s driveways can be gravel or you know I mean like I can’t I came here and my fashion changed and then I had kids so my fashion completely for a number of reasons 1

56:38.88
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, come to India. Um, oh yeah.

56:55.11
celinegabrielleart
I didn’t want to stand out anymore like I felt I felt very um like I felt more like I was onst stage general. What I mean like people are watching you and not maybe not negatively but I just didn’t want to be watch number one number 2 I stopped wearing high heels.

57:29.40
charukaarora
Um, yeah.

57:44.58
charukaarora
Next? yeah.

57:33.81
celinegabrielleart
Because the ground is so uneven right? So that changed and then when I had kids I just felt like I didn’t want to have um fabrics that could get soiled or ruined and I wanted to be like crawling on the ground with them and my my lifestyle changed and so my clothing reflected that.

57:54.92
charukaarora
Yeah.

58:25.90
charukaarora
Yes.

58:10.73
celinegabrielleart
And now I’m coming and and to be honest I sort of did want to blend in like I didn’t want to stand out on the soccer field I just wanted to blend in with other soccer moms I didn’t want somebody like watching me walk across the field because I was in Yellow head to toe or something you know what I mean so I did definitely.

58:38.32
charukaarora
To stand up.

58:52.64
charukaarora
Um, yes, yeah.

58:50.97
celinegabrielleart
Tone down who I wanted to be on the exterior I was still me but my exterior I changed it to like blend with the circumstances and the place and now the more that I’m embracing getting back to sort of that childhood that artistic side of myself and living as an artist I’m still.

59:17.20
charukaarora
Yeah, like yes and.

59:47.92
charukaarora
Yes.

59:29.69
celinegabrielleart
Place but my kids don’t They’re older so I don’t need you know they’re not like you and baby stuff on me. So I don’t need to worry about that and I I dress this way some of the time like right now I’m in my house so I can dress this way. But even if.

59:57.22
charukaarora
That that what difference? yeah.

01:00:19.74
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:00:07.90
celinegabrielleart
I’m like going downtown to my main street I’m always like is it too much. Is it too am I too much you know what I mean because I’m doing it more and more. But even as a 40 year old woman I still in a safe.

01:00:34.52
charukaarora
You know? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

01:00:39.13
celinegabrielleart
A relatively safe place where the the biggest thing that’s goingnna happen to me is people are gonna stare and somebody might wow. That’s you know, quite a little bit or something like that like that’s probably the most that will happen but just feel comfortable because you know that is going to happen. It’s still like it takes something it takes.

01:01:04.20
charukaarora
Yeah, yeah.

01:01:16.30
charukaarora
When who.

01:01:18.39
celinegabrielleart
Ah, bit of a bit of something some fortitude because sometimes you don’t want to be like on stage or or being the the I don’t know you just don’t want to be the talking point as much as you feel like yourself and you feel comfortable. You just don’t want that attention right.

01:01:50.14
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:02:10.46
charukaarora
I Know yes.

01:01:57.33
celinegabrielleart
So it’s ah it’s a weird. It’s ah it’s a cool thing. How fashion works that way. But it’s also a weird thing because it triggers feelings of emotions inside of us.

01:02:22.32
charukaarora
Um, yesterday.

01:02:34.10
charukaarora
I Know you know even while you’re saying this I think um I if you look at me I I look like a mess like like right now. But and I’ve I’ve seen I’ve seen this difference in me while I dress Also so by whenever I’m here like in the City life I feel like.

01:02:30.35
celinegabrielleart
Enough beautiful.

01:03:09.32
charukaarora
Me practicality and I get so torn down so many times takes over my entire mindset and everything so it’s out of the day for me it’ so almost 8 20 like now and like I feel I feel like I I may have added like I have added like a lip cloth or like just do for this video. But.

01:02:59.81
celinegabrielleart
Yeah.

01:03:44.52
charukaarora
Before that believe me I had my head up down and like all of that and that’s how even I came from to office like I’m recalling this like a shef from office today and um while I was staying at home in covid like I felt gradually I had this like I was started to. Find myself back when it came to dressing even when I didn’t have to go anywhere even I I had to just go to the studio I felt even if I see my videos and you know stuff like that I can see that transition I can see that comfort because I didn’t feel a I was in my safe zone I just had to I was just being myself I didn’t feel charged because I was in my home and then I was.

01:04:23.43
celinegabrielleart
Um, young. Wow.

01:05:02.46
charukaarora
Ah, somewhere and it some way felt more safe to experiment I don’t know why why and it made me feel good like sometimes I’ll be honest when I see myself like this I don’t feel too good. Um because it doesn’t lift me up.

01:04:54.29
celinegabrielleart
Yes, absolutely yeah.

01:05:41.24
charukaarora
Sometimes I get exhausted when I dress but also when I dress in something that seems natural and sealess Even when it feels like dressy for me. It makes me feel so good and confident because I feel like I showed up for my best This looks ah like you know how that even mindset.

01:05:42.65
celinegabrielleart
Yes, absolutely, there’s such a connection. Yeah, between the way we look and the way we feel or at least I think you you said it and I know I feel it maybe not everybody feels that way and I wonder if it’s.

01:06:15.60
charukaarora
Please with that.

01:06:17.55
celinegabrielleart
Wonder if it’s stronger for women because we have all these messages you know sent to us but I don’t know I just feel I don’t know I even get more productive sometimes if I like put myself to feel like okay I’ve got my shit together I can do this and I’m I don’t know there’s a definite mind.

01:06:43.48
charukaarora
You want.

01:06:56.72
charukaarora
Yes.

01:06:57.70
celinegabrielleart
Connection with looking our best or and even pleasing to us like that’s the thing it doesn’t have to be like you said you were feeling like experimenting within your own space. You were just doing it for yourself. But you were feeling feeling good about it. So it wasn’t.

01:07:20.94
charukaarora
And yes, and. For some.

01:07:48.98
charukaarora
Yeah, yeah, and you know you know this was so I think this is something that I really love about growing up when I do up E Why I love hands down clothes. It’s like you know I feel like I would never buy something but when I take it from my sister I’ll you know.

01:07:35.45
celinegabrielleart
Only for anybody but you.

01:08:28.76
charukaarora
Someone like my sisterinlaw something like we exchange clothes and like I will wear. Someone’s clothes and um I feel like I I will not buy something but when I get it from there or true and when I try that it opens my dos door Creatively So mask like you know things you would go otherwise like if I had to shop but now with this. Was my sister and she sent me something I and because I would be so lazy and I wouldn’t buy something and I would just wear that and I love that I mean I Love just like I Just love the warmth of the clothes that she has and it’s like it’s like another world. She opens up for me and I’m like I would have never bought this. How did she buy this like.

01:09:09.55
celinegabrielleart
Yeah.

01:09:47.84
charukaarora
And then I dry in I’m like yeah this is interesting and this is something like I love that about wearing something that I take it from like a nice hands style I Love that Absolutely like it’s like a creative exercise for me I’m like this gives me like another perspective of also.

01:09:31.59
celinegabrielleart
Um, young.

01:10:24.86
charukaarora
Dressing. What’s like even in India if you seen our events. We dress a very cro like it’s like a whole show that you should come to India and I’ll take you to a beauty but when I get married you’ll come and sure you so.

01:10:15.23
celinegabrielleart
Um, yeah, absolutely I would love to yes I would love what oh my God that would be such a peace for the eyes.

01:11:02.70
charukaarora
Like oh my God we’ll do like an art queens like whole thing and we all won dress. Oh my look look at it We we all all can dress in our own ways and like a best best full flood yourself. Whatever Even if that mean Jumpers and whatever.

01:11:13.93
celinegabrielleart
Exactly whatever So is our best right? It could be different for. Yeah.

01:11:37.80
charukaarora
Ah, even if that means like a yes, yeah, so even if you come to India on a wedding. It’s like a it’s like it’s like um, it’s like ah everyone’s personal wedding day. So it’s like people get dressed at best and it’s like you know. It’s it’s this culture like how we are built and integrated and it’s how we share those resources and how we’re also celebrating like even in celebration dressing is such a big part. Such a big part how we dress like when there’s something that’s like that’s not a celebration. that’s that’s something I do’t like you know we think oh how do we? You know how we’re expressing ourselves with those um clothing or accesses. Whatever that feels like you know when it’s celebration or when it’s something not so salival. It’s a soccer. It’s a law. It’s a you know.

01:13:07.17
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, everything. It’s like um, there’s those extremes like the wedding the funeral but then there’s other things too like graduation or like I mentioned earlier Like. What are you wearing on the soccer field like can you imagine if I can you mean a hot pink business suit with high heels the soccer field. That’s all that anybody would talk about in my little town right? So people dress appropriately quote Unquote Appropriate I mean you can wear whatever, whatever you want. But I’m just saying like it’s so interesting. How.

01:13:54.44
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:14:10.98
charukaarora
Um, we have no.

01:14:13.81
celinegabrielleart
We take social cues from one another as well and that impact you know what we do and how we show up. So I mean there’s so many layers to it and then there’s a whole society and status. That’s the other thing that I find fascinating and especially or um, when you were.

01:14:33.78
charukaarora
Um, yes, yes, yeah, yeah.

01:14:59.60
charukaarora
Um, yeah.

01:14:52.43
celinegabrielleart
Interested in fashion design and working towards that like 1 of the things that I did when I was younger same like you when I was interested in fashion and I got to go to New York for the first time I think I was about 19 and I was in New York and I’m like okay this is it fashion capital and so I went to like.

01:15:39.30
charukaarora
Um, this.

01:15:32.10
celinegabrielleart
All the most fashionable areas that I was like people watching and then I was like okay this is my chance because I would obsess over watching like once and so I would go into the store and I’m like what makes these clothes so special right? because everybody wants the Chanel everybody wants the versace.

01:15:58.38
charukaarora
Um, the detective.

01:16:19.30
charukaarora
Yes.

01:16:05.57
celinegabrielleart
And I was making clothes. So I thought oh they must be made really well. The quality must be amazing and I would go in and I would touch everything and I would turn it inside out and see how it was made and it was nothing special but what really was nothing special. It was like a versace t-shirt that was literally the same t-shirt that you would find out.

01:16:29.96
charukaarora
Um, yeah, oh yes, yes.

01:16:44.99
celinegabrielleart
Whatever department store you have but it had the versace logo and therefore by some reason it was this magical special thing. We still fall into that trap today you know what? I mean like there are status and labels that are.

01:17:17.74
charukaarora
Um, yes, yes, we’re all guilty of that.

01:17:20.45
celinegabrielleart
Make things better or make you feel better because you have this thing but really the things are made in all the same factories. You know like the things that you find Walmart are the same things that are being sold. You know what? I mean like.

01:17:58.64
charukaarora
Yeah. Um, yeah.

01:17:53.65
celinegabrielleart
There’s a lot of gray area there. But again as a society we agree that this logo or this designer makes your status raise and it’s the same like back when I was talking about those paintings from back in the day like.

01:18:24.84
charukaarora
Is more precious.

01:18:22.50
celinegabrielleart
If you had velvet and if you had the color purple that was a desirable thing because that was hard to get so your status is raised because you have a certain fabric or you have silk and so there’s all these like hidden messages that were um, submitting to the world with the choices in the things that.

01:19:19.78
charukaarora
Yes, yes I know this is like this is so um, even while we were discussing the whole idea and that’s why I reached talk to you because your work for some reason is such a good fate and it it’s just.

01:19:00.85
celinegabrielleart
That we’re doing right.

01:19:58.20
charukaarora
Um, it does not I take for me it touches the same part for me I try to find reasons behind things and for me whenever so I see your work I don’t only see clothes for me I see that I see confidence like the one that I’m even seeing just right behind you like.

01:19:53.69
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, yeah.

01:20:09.50
celinegabrielleart
Um, and yeah.

01:20:36.96
charukaarora
Me My first takeaway is like you know with the bold colors with with with with the way that person sitting you know with the open legs like it for me it exudes confidence in it. It’s and that is also something that you exude to me like you know your were the way you talk or the way you you know? So I feel like.

01:20:29.95
celinegabrielleart
That yeah.

01:21:14.68
charukaarora
Um, it’s It’s so and that’s why I wanted to reach out to you because I love how within with with the mode of fashion integrating art which is something I Love both like both of them. We both love that it still is so much like all of these things that we’ve spoken about like.

01:21:14.41
celinegabrielleart
Um, yeah.

01:21:52.62
charukaarora
Like you know cultural economic or or personal or whatever impacts we’ve had in Associations It’s so wide and different.

01:21:48.70
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, and you that’s the thing too is like my my work clearly does have a focus on the clothing. But if you actually start looking at a lot of art in the world. The clothing might not be the focus.

01:22:39.26
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yeah.

01:22:23.91
celinegabrielleart
But it’s there and it’s contributing to the piece right? like like what I said to we about like in the galleries and looking at these works and even though it might be a narrative or it might even be like um, an interior landscape and you see. Some clothing on the bed or whatever like what is that saying or if you think back to um, you know paintings where people are outside at the beach or at the park they’re all wearing clothing and so what is that? what is that adding to the art right? It doesn’t have to be necessarily. The.

01:23:47.84
charukaarora
Yes, Muna. Yes.

01:23:39.47
celinegabrielleart
Number 1 focus in a piece of work. They’ll add importance to that piece of art because it’s saying something.

01:24:10.90
charukaarora
Yeah, and you know, not only that you know ah like interiors if you see um I think fashion is also so fluid like in India you’ll see and I know a lot of people like if you say um, you see you see these tapestries or my work also like feels ah um, in middle of that. Like these are all indian textiles and these flows from the prints that we see on on our clothes to you know, but bed sheets or like curtains or like you know. So first that we set in so I feel like um, even that um, that is so much included in that.

01:24:38.41
celinegabrielleart
I.

01:25:06.89
celinegabrielleart
Um, absolutely.

01:25:28.78
charukaarora
Like our culture in those zos up goes into a clothes and that cloth is again that a clothes are meat of certain cloth and that also cloth rotates into different parts of our lives.

01:25:31.51
celinegabrielleart
Oh There’s definitely the crossovers between you know and then back to like what you were saying with the Trends I do notice that I don’t know if you notice that but if you go in a store ah like a winners I don’t know if you have that it’s like a department store right? They have clothes. Have home furnishings in the same store and you’ll look over here and it’ll be spring colors in the clothes and then you look over here at the pillows and the blankets and it’s the same colors right? like there’s a definite crossover especially with textiles between what’s going on with the trends in Fashion. So.

01:26:41.42
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yes, yes, yes, yes.

01:26:40.65
celinegabrielleart
I think I think the home follows the clothes and not the other way around. But anyway it’s just it is. It’s a layer.

01:27:09.40
charukaarora
Let me tell you something very interesting. So when my brother was getting married and I designed my entire family’s clothes and I I was more scared to do it for my mom because like she like I said she was so so is you know she.

01:27:04.49
celinegabrielleart
Um, yeah.

01:27:42.46
charukaarora
So obvious obsessed that I was so afraid that she would like it on odd like I would I was so stressed and so I did this gown like for everybody else I did it on my own I knew Okay, whatever I give them that’s of course considering what they want but I knew I would go up like I would match their expectations because I was pretty.

01:27:24.90
celinegabrielleart
Yes.

01:28:20.18
charukaarora
My head taste was be above that to be honest or with my mom It always felts like a talent so she wanted to have this like really flowy gown like you know, but the style that’s really popular with his flounce and heavy fos stuff I went onto markets and markets and I just couldn’t find the right who did it.

01:28:08.65
celinegabrielleart
Right.

01:28:57.84
charukaarora
At all I had this vision and I was like I don’t know and so you know there’s this store here in Delhi which is very popular for sourcing for fabrics and all of that and that we have a home in dylin section on the top floor which is um for upholstery and all of that and i. I always go up there for some reason I love those heavy flu like fabrics with so much flow and style and I was going through a curtains running area so they have these running fabrics that but you can you know, print out curtains and stuff and I found this gorgeous gorgeous brown gold fabric.

01:29:40.83
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, yeah.

01:30:13.48
charukaarora
And I flew and like you know when you make something you check the flow of the fabric and all of that when I did and I was like this is it I was so scared to tell my mom that I got a costume I give a taste account for her that was made out of of fabric that was in a uphoy like a stolen um section.

01:29:58.97
celinegabrielleart
Absolutely yes.

01:30:53.32
charukaarora
I got everything done everybody loved it and everybody and one fine day I told her you know what she was like this fabric is amazing. You know this all of dia I’m like let me tell you something today and oh my god she was so you made me like she was so infuriated like you know did you and I was like you know I was still explaining to her. You know.

01:31:11.75
celinegabrielleart
Ah, right.

01:31:31.22
charukaarora
It does not matter what it comes from what matters is you know what looks like and everything but that’s how it is.

01:31:21.79
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, yeah, absolutely oh and so that’s certain, no go ahead.

01:31:47.58
charukaarora
Okay, 1 you have something okay I have to ask you something and then we’ll try to mind this up which is something I really want to so we before we we started discussing the call for art. We had several ideas we start so you know whatever I think we’ve spoken about. This episode is what we both of us had in our minds. We had different themes. We did so much to and through and you know you were very stuck and ready to wear as a theme now tell me but this was something but this was.

01:32:10.43
celinegabrielleart
Oh.

01:32:29.90
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, well wasn’t excited aware I had other options.

01:33:05.70
charukaarora
Something that you were you I had a I felt like you were very compelled like you felt this was I feel like it felt very very natural to you for some reason now I Want to ask why and then what what are you imagining when you thought of this the and let’s say you know when you curate this show and. You know what kind of people are you looking for what kind of work. Could you imagine like why ready to wear.

01:33:32.35
celinegabrielleart
Okay, so ready to wear is a term in the fashion industry right? for clothes that are on the rack ready to wear. It’s not couture. It’s ready to wear and so it came from the fashion world. But then when I.

01:34:03.16
charukaarora
Yeah. Yes.

01:34:23.56
charukaarora
Yes.

01:34:10.70
celinegabrielleart
Think about it. It’s like back to some of our discussions like what am I ready to wear as in like am I prepared to wear this in public. So there’s that connotation that I have in my mind.

01:34:53.30
charukaarora
Oh Wow! Love that.

01:34:42.79
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, and then ready to wear too is like again things we’ve talked about like maybe I know it’s a focus on fashion but I don’t want it to be so narrow that people think it has to be like fashion illustration.

01:35:32.10
charukaarora
Yeah, yes.

01:35:18.71
celinegabrielleart
Or work that looks like mine much like we’ve talked like maybe the fashion isn’t the focus of it but it is a part of the story and why is it a part of the story right? and so just ready to wear. It could be. Clothing on a hangar could be clothing on a floor. It could be clothing as fabric. Maybe even like it’s not ready yet. It’s not right. It’s still curtain fabric but it’s going to be ready to wear one day. You know what I mean like so text it could it opens it up a little bit more to like text.

01:36:26.74
charukaarora
Yes. Your way. Yeah.

01:36:32.30
celinegabrielleart
Styles and clothing without it being Runway fashion illustration. Do you know what? I mean so that’s why I kind like it’s not like it is fashion but it’s ready to wear you know I mean I think that’s why I Really like that as a title.

01:37:00.38
charukaarora
Um, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, love that? Yeah yeah, even while we were speaking and when we closed and I was like I was doing this I’m doing these pieces like now which are like jewelry. Um, embellished jewelries and you know stuff like that and I was like you know what now this seems fit so well to me because my a lot of my work are print in Indian prints inspired even though I have like animals and stuff but a lot of my work is only Indian friends and Indian textiles.

01:37:30.63
celinegabrielleart
Yes.

01:38:15.60
charukaarora
All of that clothing and all of that he won So my work is it feels so much of a part of this because then you’re seeing fashion culture emotions and like all of that.

01:38:04.91
celinegabrielleart
Rape.

01:38:16.45
celinegabrielleart
Yeah, and that’s another great point too is like ready to wear could be jewelry also could be shoes could be even your hairstyle. It could be makeup but you like it leaves it a little bit more broad than just specifically clothing because there’s so much about.

01:38:51.44
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yeah, um, yes.

01:38:55.65
celinegabrielleart
Wearing things that it could be a laundry mask like you know what? I mean with piles in like that’s all part of that’s all part of our cyclical use of clothing in our cultures right could be many and a kids apron I don’t know like I have so many it’s It’s really.

01:39:19.46
charukaarora
You know? yeah.

01:39:33.72
charukaarora
Um, so yeah and how ready to wear is also I feel. Yeah oh Wow! yes.

01:39:34.37
celinegabrielleart
More.. It’s really more broad like I’m thinking back? Um, a very famous American ah Illustrator artist. Oh man I’m drawing a blank on the name but hit his his work was like scenes of American life. But it would be like at a doctor’s office or in a diner or in a kitchen and so the focus wasn’t the clothing but the clothing was part of the story right? And so I want people to really think about that with this open call. How.

01:40:32.96
charukaarora
Oh wow.

01:40:51.78
charukaarora
Now. Yeah.

01:40:45.47
celinegabrielleart
How does their work maybe fit in.

01:41:06.94
charukaarora
Oh my god yes, that’s ah and I think something with ready to wear is also like so when we worked in fashion with ready to when I think in today’s time where there’s so much of noise and so much of things already happening. They’re all not only setting selling clothes like we’re ready to wear a lot. We’re telling ideas and stories.

01:41:22.43
celinegabrielleart
I have.

01:41:45.60
charukaarora
Like you know, um, even if I think this code would have a million more like a thousand more stories if someone were to sell them like you would have your own either way I would I would tell how I would dress or like how I would associate like you know like it’s.

01:41:51.35
celinegabrielleart
Um, again, absolutely.

01:42:22.88
charukaarora
It’s those stories that we integrate and I love to thought that you said and I didn’t think of it this way now that you’re saying it like you know the apron when someone’s in a kitchen because I can think of a work that was summented to us and then open called recently which has something very similar. Um, a lady we had these shadows and then there was an apron and there was a shadow and like that is.

01:42:40.25
celinegabrielleart
Absolutely yeah and the apron thing I mean I think all of us can probably think of a loved one that had their go to apron when they’re like I don’t know barbecuing yeah family reunion or making Christmas cookies or or.

01:43:01.80
charukaarora
Writing to where.

01:43:20.60
charukaarora
Memories. Yes.

01:43:15.91
celinegabrielleart
Whatever, whatever, your um and that’s not back to the cultural thing like food connects Apron Fabric tablecloth like it’s all textile fashion I mean like and then people sitting at a table join the feast again. The clothing.

01:43:45.48
charukaarora
Um, yeah, yeah night. Yeah.

01:43:51.80
celinegabrielleart
Isn’t necessarily the main thing but it’s an important thing right? And so yeah, like I just want people to sort of get outside the box and if if they feel like their work can connect to that storytelling in any way. Um, we want to see it. Yeah.

01:44:15.22
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:44:33.28
charukaarora
Um, now I’m very excited I’m very excited to see okay any pardon words before we end this episode about the open call about this anything that you want to share and then we let everybody go.

01:44:37.15
celinegabrielleart
I Just I’m just so like I’m so excited I can’t tell you I I just I think about it on like when are we doing it look. Let’s go. Let’s go I Want to start work So I’m thrilled that you asked me to participate I’m excited to see everybody’s.

01:45:16.18
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:45:16.67
celinegabrielleart
Work I just can’t I’m just like Beyond words I’m so excited to get this going and put it together. Yeah, it’s thrilled.

01:45:44.40
charukaarora
Um, ah oh I’m so excited I’m um, we’ll think of some new and a video ways to put this together like now I’m going to Brains Strongm with you once we have the application and staff I’m sure we both love doing things differently and like doing more.

01:45:59.71
celinegabrielleart
Yeah I love it.

01:46:22.38
charukaarora
Like something but this should be special like so we could do like a t-shirt or T you like maybe something or like ah I don’t know something something ready to wear.

01:46:17.25
celinegabrielleart
Maybe we could do like a catalog that’s like designed like a fashion magazine with all the work something I don’t know just and if anybody’s listening and they have ideas send them our way We don’t know up when.

01:46:49.22
charukaarora
Oh Oh my goodness. Yes, yes, yes, Yes, yes, and I think with the descriptions I would love like you know we with the form that you’ll see in this um Application. You’ll see what us writing to I mean to you um tell us I think this is what.

01:47:11.37
celinegabrielleart
Um, yes.

01:47:41.60
charukaarora
Spoken about is what we’re looking for how what? what will you? How how are you going to curate the show. Can you for anyone who listening can you give them some points so that they can at least you know improvise this application.

01:47:46.19
celinegabrielleart
Yeah I mean obviously the image is an important part. So I’m definitely going to be looking for um, strong images that either tell the story or have something really catching. That’s.

01:48:15.80
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:48:23.10
celinegabrielleart
Maybe unique or yeah I don’t know like I’m so open to just new things like recently just for fun I love sharing. People’s work and share and looking at at art that I’m not aware of and so I did like a fun I just had some free free time on on a day and I put a. Call on my personal. Um Instagram right? to show share your page with me and I’m gonna go look at your work and it’s just so amazing to see the variety out there and so yeah, I’m just I don’t know I do tend to like um.

01:49:22.10
charukaarora
Yes, yes, yes yeah.

01:49:42.34
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:49:56.20
charukaarora
Um.

01:49:37.35
celinegabrielleart
Color so color. The story of color The use of color is interesting. The color the use of light and shadow I find really interesting and then in terms of the narrative like what does ready-to-wear mean to you I think that is also an interesting component too because. Like even with my own work. Superficially you might not um and you might not know the story behind the clothes. But you know when I can tell you about it or maybe you can use your imagination and make up your own story but that that response that what is ready.

01:50:45.94
charukaarora
Started.

01:50:57.86
charukaarora
Yeah.

01:50:49.15
celinegabrielleart
Ready to wear mean to you I think will be and a very exciting part of the application for me to read so put some effort into your description because I really want to know like the story behind. Yeah.

01:51:26.24
charukaarora
Yes, I am so excited I Can’t wait for this whole thing to come together because oh God I’m sure we’ll have like something ready to go so bad for.

01:51:29.43
celinegabrielleart
Good I’m excited.

01:52:01.62
charukaarora
