5 Easy Steps to Make an Effective Artist Website
We live in a tech-driven world, and as internet users, we visit many websites daily. During our website visits, we have noticed that some websites with stunning designs and aesthetics are not user-friendly or mobile-friendly. In contrast, other websites look plain but are very easy to navigate as a user.
I understand that all these websites have their own goals and have been made by keeping that particular perspective in mind. But still, regardless of the type of website you have, it must be visually appealing, functional, and have a personal touch that speaks to your brand because a website is something that builds a name for your business.
It seems like a lot of work, right? But don’t worry; we at Arts to Heart have decided to share 5 easy steps to make an effective artist website in this week’s article as we realized that there are many emerging artists out there that have fantastic knowledge to share with the world but are unable to reach a large number of the audience because they are unable to build an effective website for themselves.
As we are talking about websites, let me share some thrilling news with all our loyal readers and members: soon, we will launch our new website with unique new additions, and we can’t wait to share it with you all.
But before that, let’s get back to our topic, so keep reading to learn about the steps that will help you make an effective website.
Determine the Goals You Want To Accomplish
Knowing your goals before starting anything in life is very important. And when it comes to making an effective website, the number 1 step is determining your goals. Ask yourself why you want to make a website. Do you want to sell your work? Do you want to share your knowledge with others? Do you want people to subscribe to your newsletter? Or do you want all of that to happen? It’s okay if you have many goals to accomplish. It would be best to list them all because it will help you focus on them while making your website.
Once you have listed all your goals, do proper research about them. Look at all those websites that provide similar services or products like you. Make notes of how they have organized their page, and you’ll be well on your way to creating a successful website of your own afterwards. One more thing that you should keep in mind is that when you look at other websites, try to take ideas from them and don’t just copy them because their websites resonate with their vision, but your website should resonate with your vision and speak for your business.
Decide On a Website Platform
Now that you have created your list of goals you want to accomplish, the next step is to decide on a platform for your website. There are many platforms out there that you can use, like WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Squarespace and many more. If you are an artist then Squarespace is the best option for you. But if you are a creative entrepreneur, we recommend you make your website on WordPress as this is also the platform we use for our website Arts to Hearts project.
We also recommend WordPress because it gives you the freedom to design your website as per your likeness. It also has a vast range of function and extension options that you can use to make a more effective website. WordPress is also very e-commerce friendly, so if you want to sell products or services through your website, then WordPress is the platform that you should choose. Furthermore, it is free to use WordPress, and as a beginner, we recommend you use the free version to get hold of things and get a better understanding of using it. But once you learn how to use it, we recommend buying yourself a host and domain because it will create a more professional look for your website.
Decide Your Target Audience
There are 7 Billion people worldwide, and it is impossible to reach out to everyone even if we try our best to do it. So, it is imperative to decide on our target audience. If we don’t know who our potential customers or audience will be, we won’t be able to make a voice for our business that can resonate with them. For example, if you make art, you will be interested in people who like art or are artists themselves. You will want your work to reach them rather than someone who is into the tech business. I know you must be thinking that if I am identifying the target audience, it means that I am excluding other people. No, that’s not the case. It just means that you have narrowed your focus on the audience that will buy from you or provide feedback that will help you or benefit from your website. It will also help you make an effective marketing strategy that will help you reach a large audience by spending less money. So it would be best to decide on your target audience to make an effective website.
Decide The Content
Now that you know your target audience, deciding the content that will interest them becomes straightforward. Writing engaging and valuable content is very necessary for an effective website. So again, do your research. Find out what other similar niche is writing? How are they making an impact on their audience? What are the topics that they cover daily? And then come up with an idea of how you will write content that will give value to your website. How can your audience get benefit from the content that you are creating? So try to find a unique and creative approach to presenting your content to your audience.
Besides that, when deciding the content, also decide how many pages your website will have. The kind of content we make and have can help navigate how many pages we want like at our website of Arts to Hearts, we have a Home page, Articles page, Podcast page, Exhibit page, and Studio visit page. So decide how many pages you will have on your website, and then start creating the content by keeping that particular page in your mind. This technique will help your audience know what they will learn about when they visit that particular page.
Launch Your Site
Now comes the final step of launching your website. I know that when you reach this point, you are overwhelmed with all excitement and nervousness. But before launching, ensure that your website’s name is in accordance with the product or services you will be offering. The layout of the website is attractive and speaks for your business. The content has been displayed in its proper place.
Additionally, run a test on mobile to know that your website works perfectly fine on mobiles. And once you are sure that everything is in line with how you wanted it. Then push that publish button and start creating the magic you always intended to do.
