Now Open: The Woman Artist Award – 7th Edition For Women Artists Worldwide

Open Call

At Arts to Hearts Project, women artists have always been an important part of what we do. From the pages of our art books and magazines to our exhibitions, interviews, and creative initiatives, we have had the pleasure of discovering and sharing the work of women who bring their own perspectives, experiences, and ways of seeing the world into their art. Every artist we meet adds something new to the conversations we want to create around contemporary art, and over the years, celebrating their work has become a meaningful part of our journey.

It is this same spirit that brings us back with the 7th Edition of the Woman Artist Award!

With every edition, we look forward to meeting artists whose work has something to say, whose creative journeys deserve to be celebrated, and whose practices remind us just how many different ways there are to experience and create art. This year, we are once again opening our doors to women artists from around the world, inviting them to share their work and become part of an initiative that brings recognition, publishing, and opportunities together.

Whether you have been building your practice for years or are finding your footing as an emerging artist, we would love to see what you have been creating. And because we believe that every artist has a story worth sharing, this edition is about more than receiving an award. It is about bringing your work into a wider conversation and giving it a place where it can be seen, appreciated, and remembered.

About The Woman Artist Award

Women Artists on The Rise – Edition 4

The Woman Artist Award began with a simple but important idea: creating more opportunities for women artists to have their work recognized, shared, and documented. Through our years of working with artists across different countries and creative disciplines, we have seen how much talent exists within the art community and how important it is to create platforms where artists can introduce their practices to new audiences.

Now in its seventh edition, the Award continues that commitment by welcoming emerging and mid-career women artists from across the globe. It is an international initiative that brings together artists working in different mediums, exploring different subjects, and following their own creative paths. Rather than limiting artists to a particular style or approach, we want to make room for the many ways women are contributing to contemporary art today.

There is also something special about the way this Award connects recognition with publishing.

The Woman Artist Award and Women Artists on the Rise are two connected parts of the same initiative. The Award is the international open call through which artists submit their work for consideration, while Women Artists on the Rise is the book series featuring selected artists from the Award. With the upcoming 7th Edition of the Woman Artist Award, we are preparing the 5th Edition of Women Artists on the Rise.

The book is a professionally produced hardcover coffee table publication that brings together selected women artists and their work. Each edition introduces readers to a collection of creative practices, offering a glimpse into the different ideas, experiences, and perspectives that shape the work of women artists today. Alongside their artwork, selected artists have the opportunity to share more about their journeys and the stories behind their practices.

For us, this is one of the most meaningful parts of the initiative. An exhibition or an online feature can introduce an artist to a new audience, but a book creates something lasting. It gives artists a publication they can hold, revisit, share with others, and include in their professional portfolios. Every edition also becomes part of a growing collection that documents the work and experiences of women artists across the world.

And there is more to the Award than the publication. From cash prizes and bespoke trophies to interviews, portfolio features, and magazine subscriptions, we want to make sure that selected artists receive recognition that extends beyond the announcement of the winners.

Across its previous editions, the Woman Artist Award has provided more than US$10,000 in prizes and artist support. As we prepare this seventh edition, we are excited to continue building on that journey and discovering another wonderful group of women artists.

What’s In It For Artists?

Women Artists On the Rise Edition 1

We know that putting your work out into the world takes courage, time, and a great deal of heart. That is why we want the Woman Artist Award to offer more than a title. We want it to create opportunities that artists can carry forward in their creative journeys, whether through professional recognition, publishing, or the chance to introduce their work to a wider audience.

The 7th Edition brings together cash prizes, professionally produced publications, interviews, portfolio opportunities, and features across Arts to Hearts Project’s platforms.

Here is what the award packages include:

Beyond these awards, selected artists will become part of the Women Artists on the Rise community, joining a published collection of women whose work and creative journeys deserve to be shared.

We hope these opportunities offer artists something meaningful to take with them. A little recognition for the work they have put into their practice, a new publication to add to their portfolios, and perhaps a new connection or audience that opens another door along the way.

What Are We Looking For?

One of the things we love most about bringing artists together is discovering how differently each of them approaches their work. Some tell stories through colour and form, others explore personal experiences, memories, and identity, while many find inspiration in the people, places, and everyday moments around them.

For this edition, we want to leave plenty of room for all of that.

The 7th Edition of the Woman Artist Award has an open theme, which means there is no particular subject you need to explore and no specific concept you need to build your submission around. We want to see the work that feels most representative of you as an artist, whether it reflects an ongoing interest, a recent exploration, or an idea that has been part of your practice for years.

We welcome submissions across a wide range of mediums, including painting, drawing, illustration, sculpture, photography, printmaking, collage, textiles, fiber art, ceramics, installation, digital art, mixed media, and interdisciplinary practices. Artists working with traditional techniques, contemporary approaches, experimental processes, or a combination of mediums are all encouraged to participate.

Your work might explore personal experiences, culture, identity, nature, everyday life, social issues, imagination, abstraction, or something entirely different. It could be representational or conceptual, quiet and intimate or bold and expressive. What matters is that it reflects your individual approach and gives us a glimpse into the ideas that shape your creative practice.

We also want to make it easy for artists to participate without feeling the need to create something specifically for the Award. You do not have to change your usual subject matter, follow a particular aesthetic, or adapt your work to fit a brief. Simply share the work you feel best represents what you do.

Through this open theme, we hope to bring together a collection of women artists with different voices, creative interests, and ways of looking at the world. Selected artists will have the opportunity to be featured in the 5th Edition of Women Artists on the Rise, making this another opportunity to share your work through a professionally produced international art publication. Whatever your medium, subject, or approach, we would love to see what you are making!

Who Can Apply?

The Woman Artist Award is open to women artists aged 18 and above, from anywhere in the world. We welcome applications from emerging and mid-career artists who are interested in sharing their work and becoming part of this international initiative.

You do not need to work in a particular medium or follow a specific artistic style to participate. We want to make this opportunity accessible to artists with different backgrounds, experiences, and creative practices.

Here is a little more about eligibility:

  • Age: Women artists aged 18 years and above are welcome to apply.
  • Career Stage: Both emerging and mid-career artists are encouraged to submit their work.

  • Theme: There is no fixed theme or subject. You are free to submit work that reflects your interests, ideas, and artistic practice.

Whether you have been exhibiting your work for years or are just beginning to find your place in the art world, we encourage you to consider applying. Your artistic journey does not have to look like anyone else’s, and we would love to discover the work you have been developing.

We cannot wait to discover the artists who will become part of this edition and see the wonderful range of work they bring with them.

A Little Note Before You Apply

Every edition of the Woman Artist Award introduces us to artists we might not have come across otherwise. We get to see different ways of working, hear stories behind artworks, and discover the many things that inspire women to keep creating. And that is something we never want to take for granted.

At Arts to Hearts Project, we believe that an artist’s work deserves opportunities to travel beyond the studio, to reach new audiences, and to become part of conversations that continue long after a project is complete. Through the Woman Artist Award and Women Artists on the Rise, we hope to keep making that possible, one edition at a time.

So, if you are a woman artist with a body of work you would love to share, we would be delighted to see your submission. Bring the paintings you have been working on, the photographs you feel connected to, the experiments you are excited about, or the work that tells a story only you could tell.

There is no single way to be an artist, and there is no single way to make art. We want this edition to reflect exactly that. We look forward to seeing your work and welcoming you to the 7th Edition of the Woman Artist Award!
