ATH New Release | 101 Art Book : Pattern Edition is Now Available For Pre-Order

Open Call

Some ideas find their way into art through the smallest details, a repeated shape, a familiar motif, a carefully arranged line, or a combination of forms that gradually becomes something entirely its own. Pattern has a way of bringing these details together, creating rhythm, movement, and meaning in ways that are different for every artist. This is the idea at the heart of 101 Art Book: Pattern Edition, the latest release from Arts to Hearts Project, now available for pre-order.

Bringing together 101 contemporary artists from around the world, this edition explores the many ways pattern can find its place in artistic practice. Featuring Sophia Croasdale as the cover artist, the book offers a collection of distinctive interpretations, from intricate details and repeating forms to visual rhythms that give familiar elements a fresh perspective. Alongside the artworks, conversations with Sanna Annukka, Ella Dufrene, Sarah Stein-Sapir, Silvia Hametaj, and cash award winner Dahouk Chamsi-Pasha offer readers a closer look at the creative journeys, ideas, and experiences behind the work.

Whether you enjoy discovering new artists, exploring different creative approaches, or simply love seeing how one theme can lead to so many different interpretations, Pattern Edition brings plenty to discover within its pages.

About The Project

The 101 Art Book series has been an integral part of Arts to Hearts Project for years. With more than 15 editions published, these books have grown into something that means a great deal to us, to the artists who become part of them, and to the readers who welcome each new release into their collections. The love and appreciation we receive with every edition remind us just how meaningful it is to bring artists together through thoughtfully curated publications. Each book gives us another opportunity to celebrate creative voices, introduce readers to new perspectives, and create something that artists can feel proud to be part of.

Pattern Edition continues this tradition, with a few details that make the experience of owning the book just as special as the artwork inside. Produced as a premium zig-zag hardcover with elegant gold-foil detailing, the edition has a distinctive, tactile finish. Its signature format unfolds as readers move through the artists and their work, making it a beautiful addition to a coffee table, studio, or personal art library.

For art lovers and collectors, Pattern Edition offers an opportunity to discover contemporary artists, spend time with their work, and explore the many ways pattern can take shape across different creative practices. It is a book to browse at your own pace, return to whenever you need a little inspiration, and keep as part of a growing collection of contemporary art publications.

More than a collection of artworks, it is a collectible edition for anyone who appreciates contemporary art, thoughtful publishing, and the joy of discovering artists through a beautifully made book.

Meet The Cover Artist for Pattern Edition: Sophia Croasdale

Every edition has something that makes it memorable, and for Pattern Edition, that special place belongs to Sophia Croasdale, whose work also graces the cover of the book. Her vibrant use of colour, carefully constructed patterns, and distinctive visual rhythms offer a wonderful introduction to the many ways artists can interpret a single theme.

Sophia’s relationship with art began at a very young age. As she shares in her conversation featured in the book, painting was always a constant in her life, something she could return to regardless of what she was experiencing. Over time, art became more than a hobby. It became a place of comfort and clarity, and eventually, a path she knew she wanted to dedicate herself to. Discovering that she could pursue art through higher education only strengthened that feeling, giving her the opportunity to commit herself fully to something she had always loved.

A particularly interesting part of Sophia’s practice is her relationship with colour. Rather than relying on familiar combinations, she is drawn to unexpected pairings that challenge what we might naturally expect to see together. She enjoys experimenting with colours that she would not ordinarily choose, placing them alongside unexpected counterparts and allowing the relationship between them to create something new. This curiosity gives her paintings a sense of movement and keeps her visual language evolving.

Repetition is equally important to her process. Her paintings often involve precise linework and hours of repeated movements, creating compositions that feel both structured and full of life. Sophia describes the experience of painting as almost meditative. Once she settles into the rhythm of creating, her mind and body begin to work together, repeating circles and lines almost instinctively. What might seem like a laborious process gradually becomes a space for reflection, where her thoughts have room to develop and unfold.

Her works, including Parallel Universe (2025) and Chromatic Current (2026), offer a glimpse into this approach, bringing together colour, geometry, repetition, and visual movement in compelling ways.

We are delighted to have Sophia Croasdale as the cover artist for 101 Art Book: Pattern Edition. Her work captures the spirit of this edition beautifully, reminding us that patterns are not simply about repetition. They can become a language of their own, shaped by experimentation, patience, and the individual perspective of the artist.

Meet The Selected Artists of 101 Art Book: Pattern Edition

Inside The Pages: 101 Artists, 101 Ways Of Seeing Pattern

One of the loveliest things about bringing 101 artists together in a single book is discovering just how differently they can approach the same idea. For some, patterns might begin with a familiar shape or a repeated line. For others, they might emerge through colour, textures, memories, nature, or the small details they notice in the world around them. And that is exactly what makes Pattern Edition so special.

As you turn through its pages, you will find 101 different artistic perspectives on what pattern can mean and how it finds its way into each artist’s practice. Some works explore repetition and rhythm, while others play with unexpected combinations, intricate arrangements, and forms that feel entirely their own. There is no single way to interpret the theme, and the collection leaves plenty of room for each artist to bring their own experiences, imagination, and creative language into the conversation.

We love how one shared idea can lead to so many different directions. A pattern that feels structured and deliberate in one artwork might feel playful, expressive, or wonderfully unexpected in another. Together, these works show that patterns are not simply decorative elements. They can carry meaning, shape the way we see an artwork, and become an important part of how an artist tells a story.

We hope readers enjoy taking their time with this edition, discovering familiar ideas in unfamiliar ways, finding new artists to follow, and perhaps even looking at patterns a little differently after spending time with these pages. After all, the beauty of a collection like this lies not only in the artworks themselves, but also in the many creative worlds they allow us to step into.
