About Artist’s Work:
Ellen is a painter who works in oil. Her passion for landscapes springs from her own photography taken during her travels. She also works closely with art models, actors and dancers to create moving portraits in oil and graphite. Her goal is to capture the essence of these scenes and these individuals, while allowing the beauty of oil paint and mark-making to thrive in the compositions as well. It is that captivating tango of purpose and accident that intrigues her, to the goal of a captivating, dynamic compositions.
What does “Home” mean to you:
In this case, there is no more home to me than my beloved in-home studio. The work I entered here shows one of my favorite art models, a woman with whom I have worked for 3 years, posing in my large, crazily patterned studio chair, flanked by some canvases. This is image signals a type of peace and purpose I only find in that home studio. I am blessed to have a beautiful space I can access rain or shine. My gratitude runs deep for this aspect of my home.
