Art & Woman – Edition 4 | Ongoing Submissions That Caught Our Eye

Open Call

The response to Art & Woman Edition 4 has been nothing short of overwhelming. We have been so grateful to see the incredible number of submissions coming in from artists, each bringing something deeply personal, thoughtful, and beautifully their own to this edition.

Every piece tells a different story. Some caught our attention through their color and composition, others through their quietness, emotion, or the ideas sitting beneath the surface. Together, they are a reminder of just how many different ways women are creating, expressing, questioning, remembering, and seeing the world around them.

As submissions continue to come in, we wanted to pause and share 10 pieces from the submissions we have received so far that absolutely caught our eye. These are only a glimpse of the incredible work being considered for the edition, and we cannot wait to see what arrives next.

Artworks That Made Us Stop and Stare

From bold and expressive works to intimate and contemplative pieces, these ten submissions stood out to us for the way they commanded attention and stayed with us even after we looked away.

1. Ancestors’ Watch: Passing Wisdom Down – Darla Colinet

Ancestors’ Watch: Passing Wisdom Down – Darla Colinet

In the Artist’s Words:

“Ancestors’ Watch: Passing Wisdom Down reflects the importance of those who walk before us. The older bison quietly guides the younger, sharing strength and wisdom learned through experience. It reminds me that we each have something to learn, to give, and a responsibility to pass our wisdom down.”

2. Earth, Fire, Water – Erin Starr

Earth, Fire, Water – Erin Starr

In the Artist’s Words:

“The elements of our planet are the basis for all life forms. This painting is an abstract interpretation of what makes up these elements. Using a combination of materials, I am creating both flow and texture that are organic in nature. “

3. After The Burn, #I – Lindsay Dew

After The Burn, #I – Lindsay Dew

In the Artist’s Words:

“A copper sun above a smoke filled mountain with ghosts like trees drawn in oil pastel. This painting was created in the heart of wildfire season. Reframing and finding the beauty in the devastation of the environmental impact. “

4. Timeless Clock – Chimeziri Nosike

Timeless Clock – Chimeziri Nosike

In the Artist’s Words:

“When you feel you are struggling to stay afloat in the murky depths of seemingly endless troubles. Reclaim your inner peace in the tiny baby steps. Time is not going anywhere. Heal and repair. Find yourself a new reason to smile everyday. There is time…time to just be.”

5. Uncharted Echoes – Monique Martinez

Uncharted Echoes – Monique Martinez

In the Artist’s Words:

“Uncharted Echoes is a mixed media collage inspired by my journey through Portugal. Layered photographs capture the landscapes, textures, and fleeting moments that stayed with me, reflecting the wonder of discovery and my hope to return someday.”

6. Dare to Fall – Jasmin Klein

Dare to Fall – Jasmin Klein

In the Artist’s Words:

“Dare to Fall” is a two-piece painting inspired by the longing I experienced during a long-distance relationship. The work explores the tension between connection and separation, reflecting the vulnerability of loving someone from afar and the ache created by the absence of a deeply familiar and cherished closeness.”

7.Wistful Encounter- Lama Alotaibi

Wistful Encounter- Lama Alotaibi

In the Artist’s Words:

“The portrait attempts to explore the contradictions inside a single encounter. The sadness of it, the relief underneath, and a tangle of other emotions that won’t resolve into words, no matter how long you sit with them.”

8. Inner Garden – Marta Balla

Inner Garden – Marta Balla

In the Artist’s Words:

“This is the first painting I created during an artist residency. It explores the fulfilment I find in surrendering to nature and the world around me. The garden within the figure represents an inner landscape that emerges when I let go, allowing nature to nourish my creative spirit.”

9. The Offer – Liora K

The Offer – Liora K

In the Artist’s Words:

“A white plastic spoon stands straight up and down inside a paper bowl against a white background. Whipped cream is squirted onto the end – clearly the grocery store brand. The surface it rests on is covered with paper napkins.”

10. Beyond the Frame – Celeste Luz

Beyond the Frame – Celeste Luz

In the Artist’s Words:

“Inspired by sunlit Mediterranean streets, this painting explores the balance between structure and freedom. It reflects the idea that life’s most meaningful moments often emerge when we allow ourselves to grow beyond the boundaries we create and embrace the beauty of the unexpected.”

These ten pieces are just a small glimpse into the creativity coming through for Art & Woman Edition 4. With submissions still open, we know there is so much more to discover.
