Statement: I am an artist passionate about art, who finds in oil paint a way to express creativity and sensitivity. In my works, lines and curves intertwine, creating compositions that aim to guide the viewer’s gaze on a journey of colors and emotions. Since childhood, I have a deep connection with art and through it, I use my skills to convey what I feel and would like to say with words through painting. My dream is to leave my mark on the art world.
1. Patrícia, your focus on the female figure has been a key theme in your work. What inspired this deep connection to representing women in your art?
My deep connection to representing women in my art stems from a desire to explore and celebrate the complexities of female identity and experience. Throughout history, women have often been marginalized or misrepresented in the arts, and I felt compelled to challenge this narrative. Inspired by the strength, resilience, and multifaceted nature of women in my life and society at large, I aim to create pieces that convey both vulnerability and empowerment.
Each artwork serves as a dialogue, inviting viewers to reflect on their own perceptions of femininity, gender roles, and the societal expectations placed upon women. Additionally, I’ve drawn from personal experiences, stories, and the voices of women around me, allowing those narratives to shape my representation of the female figure. This focus is a celebration of diversity and the rich tapestry of women’s lives, encouraging a deeper understanding and connection within the broader cultural conversation.

2. You’ve worked with diverse techniques such as oil painting, acrylics, and encaustic. How do these different mediums help you express your creative vision?
The combination of oil painting, encaustic, and acrylic techniques in my artistic work provides a rich variety of textures, colors, and sensations, allowing me to express my creative vision in a unique way. Oil painting, with its depth and subtlety, enables the construction of layers that bring forth complex nuances, reflecting the intensity of the emotions I wish to convey. On the other hand, encaustic, with its application of hot wax, introduces a tactile and vibrant dimension, allowing me to explore the luminosity and interactivity of the surfaces, creating works that are not only seen but also felt. Acrylic paint, which dries quickly and offers versatility, allows me to experiment with speed and freedom; this encourages me to take risks and innovate, often resulting in unexpected new directions. Together, these techniques form a synergy that nurtures my creativity, allowing me to bring my ideas to life in ways that challenge conventions and reveal my artistic essence.

3. Over your 26-year career, you’ve exhibited internationally. How have these global experiences influenced your art and approach to creating?
Participating in international projects, such as art exhibitions, salons, and publications, has had a significant impact on my artistic journey and creative approach. These experiences have broadened my repertoire and vision, allowing for interactions with diverse cultures and styles. Global exhibitions have provided a platform to showcase my work and exposed me to contemporary artists who challenge conventions. Reflection on curation and visual dialogue in salons has inspired new ways to communicate ideas, while international publications have enabled my art to reach varied audiences. These experiences have shaped my creation and reinforced the belief that art connects people and cultures, encouraging me to experiment and innovate in the pursuit of authenticity.

Having my work chosen to participate in the Art to Hearts project “101 Arts Books” – Floral Edition was a truly wonderful and transformative experience. Receiving this opportunity meant a lot to me, not only for the visibility but also for the recognition on such a respected and relevant platform in the art world. Seeing my piece alongside other incredible talents who share the same passion was an exciting moment. I felt a deep connection with the diversity of styles and artistic expressions that make up the edition, each one telling a unique story through the beauty of flowers. This experience not only reaffirmed my dedication to art but also motivated me to continue exploring new ways to express myself. I am immensely grateful for the recognition and look forward to seeing how this journey will contribute to my growth as an artist. The Art to Hearts project has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on my path.

5. Your art blends abstract and figurative elements. How do you balance these styles and find harmony between them in your work?
In my work, I seek a delicate balance between abstract and figurative elements, creating a harmony that reflects the complexity of the human experience. The abstract forms allow me to explore feelings and ideas freely, almost ethereally, while the figurative elements anchor that expressiveness in a tangible reality, connecting the viewer to visual narratives. By blending these two dimensions, each piece becomes a dialogue between the known and the unknown, where fluid lines dance alongside recognizable contours. This process is not just about aesthetics; it is also about conveying emotions, provoking reflections, and stimulating the imagination. Thus, in my creative space, abstraction and figuration intertwine, generating a universe where every detail has its place, forming a visual symphony that resonates with all who contemplate it.
6. As a versatile artist with a strong presence in exhibitions, what drives your ongoing pursuit of new creative expressions?
My continuous search for new creative expressions is driven by the unquenchable passion I feel for art and the constant need to explore different languages and forms of communication. Participating in various art exhibitions has been an enriching experience, not only to showcase my work but also to connect with other artists and the public. Each exhibition represents a unique opportunity for exchanging ideas, absorbing new influences, and challenging my own limits. This collective experience inspires me to innovate and experiment, as I believe that art is a dialogue in constant evolution. The desire to expand my repertoire and contribute something original and impactful motivates my creative journey, making each new piece a reflection of this ongoing learning and my commitment to artistic expression.
