Who would have thought that food something so every day, so familiar, so woven into the rhythm of our lives could become a subject so profoundly artistic that it would inspire creators across the world to transform their stories, memories, and emotions into visual form? When we first imagined dedicating the 8th edition of the 101 Art Book Project to the theme of Food, we carried a quiet hope that artists might connect with it, but we could never have predicted just how deeply this theme would resonate, how many hearts it would stir, and how many artworks would arrive carrying not just skill, but soul.

Because what we’ve discovered, very quickly and very beautifully, is that food is not merely an object on a canvas, it is a history, a ritual, a longing, a language. It is the taste of home after a long time away, the memory of someone you loved standing by the stove, the chaos of a crowded market, the quiet of a morning tea, the ache of nostalgia, the celebration of abundance, the comfort of the familiar. And to see artists interpret these moments through painting, photography, sculpture, digital art, illustration, mixed media, and installations has been nothing less than a reminder that art always finds its way into the ordinary and turns it into something unforgettable.

What is Arts to Hearts Project

Since its beginning in 2023, the 101 Art Book Project has travelled a remarkable journey. What started as a bold idea to gather 101 artists around a single theme and present them in a beautifully curated hardcover publication has now evolved into a growing international tradition. With more than 700 artists featured across seven editions, the project has become a global archive of creativity, a place where emerging and established voices exist side by side with equal respect and visibility.

Each book distributed worldwide through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the Arts to Hearts Project Shop becomes a piece of history in its own right, carrying the work of artists into homes, studios, galleries, and collections around the world. And now, as the Food Edition steps into this ongoing story, it brings with it a theme so universal and intimate that it offers limitless potential for expression.

Why Food?

Food is so much more than sustenance. It is memory, identity, culture, ritual, longing, belonging, celebration, and reflection. Through this edition, artists are exploring food not just as a visible object but as a metaphor for nourishment, emotional, spiritual, and cultural.

Some artworks arrive filled with childhood recipes and kitchen warmth; others capture bustling markets, shared meals, or symbolic ingredients; still others explore themes of heritage, scarcity, abundance, sustainability, or longing. Food becomes a bridge between generations, between cultures, between moments we have lived and ones we can only imagine.

No medium is off-limits. Painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, digital art, installation, collage, mixed media everything belongs here, because the way you understand food is uniquely yours, and your interpretation brings something irreplaceable to this edition.
