CJ Hendry and Salon 94 Design Debut Pastel, an Immersive Interactive Exhibition in New York

Open Call

NEW YORK, NY — Salon 94 Design and internationally acclaimed artist CJ Hendry have announced Pastel, a new experiential exhibition opening from August 6–16, 2026 in New York City. The exhibition introduces a vibrant new body of work while inviting visitors to become part of the creative process through an interactive installation.

At the center of Pastel is a massive pit filled with pastel-colored beads inspired by Hendry’s playful visual language. Visitors can collect beads featuring iconic motifs such as flowers, smiley faces, Juju, and Balloon Dog to create their own bracelets, necklaces, or charms, transforming the exhibition into a participatory experience.

In addition to the interactive installation, the exhibition features Hendry’s latest drawings and editions alongside a curated selection of artist merchandise, including caps, T-shirts, jewelry trunks, leather trays, and acrylic keyrings.

A New Chapter for CJ Hendry

For more than a decade, CJ Hendry has built an international following through large-scale installations, immersive experiences, and direct engagement with audiences outside the traditional gallery system. With more than one million followers across social media, her work has introduced contemporary art to audiences who may never have visited a museum or gallery.

Pastel represents a collaboration between Hendry and Salon 94 Design, bringing her independent creative practice into a gallery setting. The partnership was initiated by art market expert and Yale lecturer Magnus Resch, who introduced Hendry to Salon 94 Design founder Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn.

“Salon 94 Design understands the importance of experimentation and audience connection. This exhibition creates a bridge between the world I’ve built and a more traditional gallery context.” — CJ Hendry

Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn described Hendry as an artist who has created her own unique model for reaching audiences.

“I am interested in how artists invent their own currency—from one dollar to millions. We are impressed by the scale of her following, her self-directed marketing, and her ability to connect with people across traditional boundaries.”

Magnus Resch added:

“CJ has built an extraordinary audience independently, and Pastel shows how established galleries and entrepreneurial artists can work together to create something meaningful for new audiences, a new generation of collectors, and the broader public.”
