We at Arts To Hearts Project have been creating resources and opportunities for Artists for the past two years. We have so far organized over 8 editions of our International Call For Art. But, we don’t want you to ever feel limited in where you want to apply. Hence, every month we bring you a quick round-up of 5 hand-picked opportunities for Artists.

1- Arts To Hearts Project Art Prize 2023: Emerging Woman Artist Award

Type: Online only

Eligibility: International

The Arts to Hearts Project “Emerging Woman Artist Award’ strives to empower and elevate the voices of women artists, giving them a platform to have their work seen and appreciated by a larger audience. Through this opportunity, these talented creators can gain recognition for their work, expanding the visibility of their art and the boundaries of what is accepted in the contemporary art scene.

There is an Open Theme for the “Emerging Woman Artist Award”.

Eligibility: 

The up-and-coming women-identifying artists who create works in painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, etc.(reach out to us at [email protected] in case of media-related questions). In that case, you are eligible to enter the Arts to Hearts Project Emerging Woman Artist Award.

To be considered an ‘Emerging Woman Artist’ for this Award, you must be in the early stages of pursuing an art career. You have some track record showing your work and have an evolving practice.

3- The 37th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition

The 37th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity for artists at any stage of their career to gain exposure in the New York art scene and receive valuable awards.

The 2022 competition awards are valued at more than $70,000. In addition to cash
prizes, winners will be selected for a group exhibition in New York, receive international exposure through our promotional channels, and be considered for participation in an art fair.

4- Daxi International Wood Furniture Craft and Design Competition

Organization: Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum

Eligibility: International

The Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum, Taoyuan is hosting the First Daxi International Wood Furniture Craft and Design Competition with a prize pool of US$49,000(NT$1.5 million). The competition aims to promote Daxi’s wood furniture craft, encourage diversity and innovation in the industry, and raise international awareness of Taiwan’s wood furniture. Creators from all over the world are welcome to participate.

The “An Inspired Life with Wood Furniture” competition seeks original submissions from designers interested in creating artistic wood furniture that enhances daily life. It has two categories, Youth and Society Category, and emphasizes innovation, technique, and practicality to encourage young students and the public to engage in wood furniture design and production. The goal is to create original works that have not been previously sold or awarded. More information can be found on the official website.

To ensure fairness and international perspectives in the selection process, the competition has invited Kasper Holst Pedersen, CEO and chief craftsman of the Danish furniture brand PP Møbler, and Professor Takamitsu Tanaka, specializing in industrial design at Iwate University in Japan, to join the judging panel. The competition aims to connect Taiwan’s wood furniture design creativity with global trends and discover emerging talent in the field.

Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum’s Director, Chen Qian-hui, aims to attract both domestic and foreign wood art and design creativity through the competition, leveraging Daxi’s century-long history of the wood art industry and excellent furniture-making craftsmanship. The competition’s goal is to make Daxi a window to showcase Taiwan’s wood furniture craftsmanship and design strength to the world, shaping the brand image of “Furniture City.” It also aims to provide a platform for domestic and foreign wood furniture creation and technical exchange, offering various activities for people to experience and learn about wood art, and promoting the consumption of wood life aesthetics.

The Daxi Wood Furniture Competition is accepting entries until May 31, 2023. Students and social creators from any country can participate in the two-stage competition by submitting registration forms and design drawings or photos of their works. Finalists will receive a subsidy of US$330 (NT$10,000) to make their works.

The Gallery at Green & Stone is calling for entries for its Summer Exhibition 2023, which will feature the work of emerging artists in a range of mediums, including but not limited to painting, drawing, and sculpture.

The deadline to enter is Friday 2 May 2023, 12 noon BST. The exhibition will run from Tuesday 1 August to Tuesday 29 August 2023.

The shortlist will be selected by a panel of renowned art professionals: curator Mary Miller, and artists Holly Frean and Catrin Treadwell. 

Prizes Details: 

  • The Green & Stone Award, awarded by Green & Stone: a fully funded solo show (worth £10,000) for the artist who exhibits a real feeling for their medium and its aesthetic potential.
  • The De Laszlo Foundation Young Artist Award, awarded by Damon and Sandra de Laszlo: a £3,000 cash award to a young artist aged 30 or under.
  • The Gallery’s Choice, awarded by Green & Stone: a £1,000 Green & Stone voucher to the artist who shows the most potential.
  • The Small Artwork Award: a £1,000 cash prize awarded to an artwork not exceeding 30.5 cm (12 inches) in length or height (unframed).
  • The Treadwell Materiality Award, awarded by Catrin Treadwell: a £500 cash prize to the artist who portrays a real interest and knowledge of materiality and their chosen medium.
  • The Damian Greenish Drawing Award, awarded by Damian Greenish: a £500 cash prize for the strongest drawing.
  • The Michael Harding Oil Painting Award, awarded by the judges:

Fee Detail: Entry is £20 per artwork. Young artists (under 30 years of age) can submit work at a discounted rate of £15.

How to Apply: Artists from around the world can enter up to 3 artworks. Works should not exceed 1m x 1m. They must be available for sale and have been made in the last three years.
