5 Morning Rituals To Help You Thrive As An Artist.

Creativity comes to us when we are genuinely focused,  or it may also strike at any time—amid a conversation, meeting a person, on the road, sitting on the toilet seat (yes, that happens), while taking a shower, or in the parking lot. We can be busy with anything, and suddenly a great idea will strike our mind, and we will be like this is what I was really looking for, and we feel this sudden rush to execute it as soon as possible.

We sometimes doodle that idea or sketch it, or we sometimes make an outline for it so that we don’t forget it.

Just like our creative ideas can come up any time of the day. Similarly, our mornings can begin at different times as well.

Some artists and creatives can be night owls who stay up late, make art, and then wake up late. And some can be the early bird that rises before the sun.

So no matter if you wake up at 5 am or 11 am, in this article, we will share some morning rituals for artists that will help you thrive as a creator.

So let’s dive into the details.

Count Your Blessings

I know life can get tricky sometimes, and we think there is nothing to be grateful for, but no matter the situation, always try to look at the positive side of life.

Starting your day on a positive note will make such a pleasant and positive impact on your life and your creativity that you cannot even imagine it unless it happens to you.

So the first thing you should do the moment you open your eyes (and before grabbing your phone) is to think of 5 things you are grateful for.

It can be anything roof over your head or a comfortable bed. It can be your partner or food in your fridge. It can be the love and support you get from your family/friends, or it can even be your pet.

If you can’t think of something like this the moment you wake up, then be grateful for the basics. Be thankful for the fresh air you breathe or your body and mind. Be grateful for the ability to think and create or be thankful that you have another chance to make a difference or create something new.

Think of even the tiniest positive thing in your life and be grateful for that and start your day with a positive thought because this positivity will fuel your entire day.

Fuel Your Body With A Healthy Breakfast

No matter how busy or late you are for the day. Never start working with an empty stomach.

Give your body the fuel it requires to start functioning. But then we all have different choices of food to have first thing in the morning.

Some artists start their day with a cup of coffee & cereals, while others might start with fresh fruits or veggies. Here I would say that if it’s possible, always start your day with fresh and healthy food, but if that’s not something you can do straight away when you wake up, try to balance your meals for the entire day. Don’t eat just processed food but try to balance it with other healthy options.

So start your day by eating something right and then head on to work required for the day.

Create A To-do List

Once you are out of bed and have had your first meal of the day, sit down for a minute and list all the things you are required to do.

It can be the meeting you have to attend or a meeting with your friend/ family. It can be doing grocery, or it can be finishing your artwork.

It can be any work you have to do on that particular day. So make your to-do list and start with that one chore that will require the highest amount of your effort, energy, and time.

Yes, this is a common mistake to make. We try to do small chores first and then get to the one which requires more time and effort, and energy to the last.

Because doing all the small things, we lose half of our time and energy, and by the time we reach that enormous task, we are drained already, so we leave it for the next day, and the cycle continues.

So do the big thing and then follow it with the small task. This way, you will finish your to-do list more efficiently and promptly.

Stick To The Plan

Once you have made your to-do list, make a plan for how you will get done with it, and then stick with it.

Yes, making a plan is easy but sticking to it is pretty tricky because a) we like to procrastinate b) we get busy with other things.

But whatever the case, try your best to stick to the plan you have made for the day, and this way, you will be able to finish all the tasks and have some time to relax or indulge in other activities you like at the end of the day.

Every Day Brings A Fresh Start

Maintaining a new habit and adjusting to a new way of life is not a one-and-done deal. It may take a few days, weeks, or even months to become accustomed to it.

Don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t succeed immediately; with practice, it will become second nature. Always remember there will always be another chance to improve yourself the next day.

Consequently, these are some rituals that you should incorporate into your morning, and if you still need more, then listen to our podcast “3-morning rituals that can set you up for creative success,” from which you will learn a great deal as well.

Now it’s your turn to share your routines in the comments so that other artists can benefit from what has worked for you.

Starting with me, I start my day by hugging my son and having a 10 minutes discussion with him about what he saw in his dream last night because he is just three years old. He always has a very wild and imaginative story to tell me in the morning, and then I make breakfast for the fam and decide what we will have for lunch. I cook that and then get busy with my work.

So this is how I start my day, and I will wait for your response, so do share how you start your day. With this, I will take your leave and see you next week with new articles. Until then, have a happy Sunday, everyone, and keep creating the magic you do.

Good Bye!
